a manner of speaking
Where I work, I have a supervisor who has that sort of warm, earthy Pinoy accent that is so thick, it almost sounds intentionally exaggerated. If it were coffee, it would be a dark, gritty roast. It is so distinct, and to the sound of a Manilena like me who grew up in a culture obsessed with sounding American, it is shockingly real and unpretentious. No Western twang there. Just some good hard...

oh, shiyat.
There are certain things in life that, always serve to remind us of how human we are, and I use the word human in the basest and most lowly sense. Whether you were born a man or a woman, a king or a pauper; whether you’re the president of the United States or just the average Joe Blow walking down the street; whether you’re Giselle Bundchen or a Plain Jane; there is one thing that...

A Sydney High Tea!
We hosted a cupcake-themed high tea yesterday!
What to do if you don’t own a cupcake tower? Get together a nicely mismatched collection of your mugs, cups, and dinner plates and make your own tower. Just make sure you reinforce it with a little sticky tack!

stone guardians

Tim Burton Christmas Tree
We won’t be bringing out the big tree this year. We feel this new one reflects the spirit of the times more: economic recession, climate change, and general lack of time to put lights on the big tree.
Also, we like how it looks like it came out of a Tim Burton movie. It’s made out of wire and electrical tape haha.

gratitude entry #1
This Christmas, instead of focusing on the things I want, I’d rather highlight the things I already have. I’ve decided to write a series of Gratitude Entries, each focusing on one thing I’m grateful for. Consider this to be the first of them:
He is probably the Paredes that people know the least about, owing to the fact that he doesn’t own a blog, isn’t in showbiz or publishing,...

day's end.
I like quiet moments like these where I can sit in contentment, and write. I’ve just finished with a day’s work, and I took my time commuting home, watching the sunset at the bus station.
This entry is about nothing in particular. End of day ramblings, the product of contentment.
The people I work with are lovely, truly, and the work itself has proven to be good for my mental...
